Oracle Database Appliance (OAD) is a highly engineered server product solution offered by Oracle. OAD is a complete package of software, server, storage and network that are engineered to work together. The product is designed to simplify the deployment of an enterprise class database solution for any mid-size company. The hardware is a 4U rack-mountable form factor with Oracle Linux and Oracle appliance manager software pre-installed. All the components have built-in redundancy and the pre-installed Oracle software will manage all the complexity to maintain a high availability server environment.

OAD licensing is also designed to grow with your company business. The server has been pre-installed with 24 processor cores with 2 enabled cores to start with. Customers can purchase additional licenses to enable additional cores as their businesses grow. This will also reduce the downtime involved usually in a hardware upgrade.

OAD can be used to run the database tier of the Oracle E-Business Suite so that customers can enjoy the high availability feature offered by OAD without the complexity of deploying it.
